Spring finally decided to grace us with its presence. Unfortunately, it's supposed to rain tomorrow and next week but at least we got to bask in the sunlight/warmth for one day. We spent the day at Pikes, buying flowers and having a picnic above the water. We also apologize to our one reader for not updating this week. So to catch up:
Last Friday we went to UVillage for some more birthday celebrating.

this was a wholegrain oatmeal chocolate chip flax seed cookie (or something like that) and it was soooo good even though it looks kinda dumpy here

and because Katey turned 20 she obviously needed a venti from Starbucks

all of the flowers at Pikes were gorgeous! they were mostly tulips and daffodils

and here's our picnic, consisting of a baguette, hummus, roasted tomatoes, and jazz apples (the coolest name)

Also we're very excited because we won a giveaway from! Thanks for the novel! And we just got an order for some banana bread!
Hope everyone (Maximum) has a good rest of the weekend (Passover)!

Last Weekend

Sorry (to those of you, well the one of you, reading this) for the belated post. We actually had quite an eventful weekend last weekend and were just too caught up in the whirlwind of activity to write about it!
Let's start with Friday:
The weather was finally spring-esque enough to sit outside in the quad. As you can see, the cherry blossoms are in full bloom, so we grabbed lattes and relaxed in the sun. Minus one stressful near-miss with a frisbee. Evidently our frisbee friends overestimated the talents of one of their teammates when they decided to play around a group of people. Another overestimation included Katey's thoughts on how much of a break she had before a meeting. She had to rush off with only two minutes to get there.
We met up for some birthday celebrations with friends from Seattle U. Just some shopping (excellent Madewell purchases!) and sushi for dinner. A great day, but possibly topped by an exciting accomplishment later that night: the successful piercing of our friend Michela's ear. Katey did the honors of giving her a second piercing in her left ear, and Sara documented the event:
Sunday started off the best way you can start a Sunday - with yoga. We find that yoga on Sunday morning gives us superior energy, and we always get to celebrate with Starbucks. Before we left UVillage, we noticed that a garden festival would be taking place later in the day. We decided to return in the afternoon to investigate. We came across goats and chickens and free samples of food!
We even got our picture taken for a film festival-related thing that we could apparently win tickets to!
We then proceeded to QFC to pick up ingredients for one thing that had been on the agenda all week: baking. We made white chocolate chip macadamia nut cookies for one of our favorite (and only) customers. $12 per batch of super delicious cookies, and if you live in the University District, we deliver! Contact us to place orders!

That concluded our weekend and got us ready for Katey's birthday week! Today is the actual day, and Katey is 20! We went to dinner at Cedar's (delicious Indian food) and then got chai/coffee at Starlife on the Oasis Café. Now Sara is doing an Audrey Hepburn puzzle as Katey types. All in all a successful evening. Expect more about the coming weekend soon!

Thanks for reading!

White Chocolate Chip Macadamia Nut Cookies
This is originally a chocolate chip cookie recipe but it's a really good dough so we use it for everything now! Also we just preheat the oven to whatever it says on the chocolate chip bag.
• In a large mixing bowl, beat 2 sticks of unsalted butter till smooth. Then add 1 cup of packed brown sugar & 1/4 cup of granulated sugar. Next add 1 egg & 2 1/2 tsp. of vanilla (a little more never hurts in our opinion). Beat until very well blended.
• Then beat in half the mixture of 1 3/4 cup + 7 tbsp. of flour (notes: we never do half the mixture because of our lack of bowls, but feel free to do it the correct way. and #2: I have no idea what this 7 tbsp nonsense is, but these are awesome cookies so just go with us!), 3/4 tsp. of baking powder, 1/3 tsp. of baking soda (just go ahead an eyeball it. whoever said baking is exact hasn't met us) and a generous 1/4 tsp. of salt.
• Stir in remaining flour mixture but don't overmix!
• Mix in white chocolate chips and macadamia nuts (we used 1/2 a bag of chips and about 3-4 oz. of nuts but it really depends on your tastes).
• Drop by teaspoonfuls (about 2 inches apart) on baking sheets (no grease necessary because of the butter!) and bake for about 8-10 minutes.
• Let stand for a couple of minutes and enjoy!
Another note: our baking times usually come to 12 minutes but we also never pay attention to the sizing listed. so moral of the story: make them whatever size you want and bake for listed time BUT check those ovens and keep an eye till they are golden and baked!)

Kudos to Sara for sharing those previous adventure photos! I thought it was about time I (Katey) figured out how to actually post something. Also, I wanted to add that if we ever get more than one follower, we invite you all to offer suggestions for our adventures.

On the short term/this weekend agenda we have (tentatively and subject to change):
- Baking some delicious treats to sell to our friend Kevin (side note: we're always willing to sell cookies if any of our future readers want to buy some)
- Going to lunch or dinner at one of the places recommended by Sara's mom's friend
and we'll probably add something else as well. We're thinking.

Long term thoughts and plans:
- Freemont on a Sunday: market, Theo, Sara's mom's friend's bakery
- Selling cookies at Gasworks
- Dim Sum with our friend Jason
- Possibly shopping in Ballard again
- The other places recommended by Sara's mom's friend

Suggestions much appreciated.

This weekend Katey is in Portland so there is nothing to report on (except I went to yoga?) Anyways, because our only reader Maximum has requested that we have more posts, I, Sara, have taken it upon myself to show some highlights from our past adventures (before we knew to blog them).

Greenlake back in fall quarter when were obsessed with the leaf colors
field trip a pumpkin patch where we played with sunflowers and corn
Pikes Place to sample macarons
Seattle Art Museum
our other obsession was the Starbucks holiday drinks
we ventured all the way to Bellevue because I was sick and insisted on finding matzoh ball soup. Katey had never had traditional Jewish food so we also got a knish
Pikes hanging with a FAT bear and some gross posters
we weren't thrilled for snow
but i'll admit it's really pretty
Santa in Ballard
yay for cooking! and Katey's a great chef because she tries to listen to my weird request not to put any oil in my eggs
brownies, lemon bars (recipe later maybe) and skinny chocolate chip cookies from  here.
our weekend in Portland wouldn't have been complete without Pine State biscuits

We've just returned from our very first adventure at Thai Tom on the ave. The food was molto delicious and also roughly the temperature of the sun. Water service gets two thumbs up for refilling our glasses every 5 min even though we had to run home so Katey could pee afterwards. We don't know why it's raining in April (oh wait, yeah we do; it's Seattle, but still! it's officially spring, what is this?!) As you can probably tell, we are incredibly inexperienced in blogging but not in nail painting which is what we're doing now!

Here is our very first post in the unfamiliar world of blogging. We don't really know what we're doing, but we suppose this is all part of the adventure experience. Just to give some background info on us: we are sophomores at UW, enjoy Audrey Hepburn films, cats, baking, taking long walks (on the beach), holidays, theme parties and ballet. We hope that you like our adventures, are inspired to take some of your own, and that someone actually reads this.

We are off to our first adventure of dinner at Thai Tom and we should probably leave now because there will be a long wait and it's raining. Maybe pictures later, we'll seee
