Storm Watch

It's supposed to rain and thunder today. Right now, the sky is cloudy and gray and I'm waiting for this long awaited weather!
I was very tired last weekend due to my late night out and couldn't be happier to finally get off work. I went to Loteria with my family afterwards and got lettuce cup tacos and had some of my mom's margarita.
Check out this giant piñata; I feel like if I hit it, a cake or a king size candy bar would fall out.
When we came home, my sister and I watched Gossip Girl and Hart of Dixie and she braided my hair (since Katey isn't my official french braider at the moment).
Not bad for her first time!
On Sunday, we went to our friend's church to make food for the homeless. We made sandwiches and lunch bags and salads and pasta for their dinner. Some volunteers were going to take everything to a shelter, so all we had to do was cook and assemble. In our lunch assembly line, I made the sandwiches and added cookies and an orange to the bag. And after that I chopped tomatoes, onions (but had to stop because tears were blinding me), cut broccoli and sprinkled cheese over the pasta. And the pasta was the most fattening thing I've ever seen: buttery pasta, chicken, chicken juice/fat poured over, vegetables cooked in butter, heavy cream, and 30 tons of cheese baked off. But I think these people need all the fat they can get, so it's ok. We rewarded ourselves with San Sei and Frootsi afterwards (I got a lavender slushy).
My sister and I went to yoga on President's day, which made me tired for the remainder of the day. Luckily my dance teacher was sick, and 2 people were gone, so Lauren, Paradise and I were able to stretch and practice our dances with minimal effort because we all wanted to sleep.
This week, we sadly finished our green tea Kit Kats.
They were deeelicious! We've started on the dark chocolate ones, which are also amazing.
It was warm enough to work in the front yard on Friday, so I helped my mom clear dead leaves from the flowers. I moved around anytime I saw a grasshopper or wasp, but managed to get some stuff done. As our reward we went to Artisan Cheese. I got an arugula salad with goat cheese, cranberries, and pistachios and my mom got a grilled cheese with tomato.
We went into Urban, where I saw:
this sweater and
this shirt. I don't know if I'm going to get any or both, but opinions? I just like shopping.
I also met Jason Schwartzman! I've been a huge fan of his since I was in 8th grade (not to mention my big crush) but I actually stopped to pet his french bulldog. I might have seemed like a crazy dog person but he was really nice and friendly nonetheless!
Cecily came over and we played Just Dance and then went to Peets Coffee for soy lattes.
They played with the coffee scoopers.
I couldn't get over the tilted stack of cups.
We were really busy on Saturday with orders for the Oscars (we had special Oscar cupcakes and cookies) and I was quite happy to be done that night. I went to Sasha's after work to hang out with her, Audrey, Jamie, and Sami. We sat outside (so cold) and listened to Sami make prank calls until we couldn't take the temperature and sat inside with the dogs and mugs of tea.
Yesterday, Anna and I went to yoga and Jamba Juice. I was a good samaritan and ran after a lady who dropped her wallet in the street. I did as much homework as I could till 3 when I went to watch the pre red carpet show for the Oscars (essentially the pre-pre show). These were some of my favorites:
How can Angelina look so freaking stunning all the time?! Also I want that color hair. But what was with the pose the whole night?
It's bold to wear red on a red head but I think Emma pulled it off pretty well. The dress kind of reminds me of a Christmas present, but it flatters her length and looks good on her. Also I like her presenter skills so I give her a thumbs up.
Another red dress and thought it complemented her skin tone very nicely. But Natalie always looks beautiful.
The white Tom Ford was really simple but elegant and worked well on her long, thin frame. She lives in London, is married to a rock star, is a great cook, a talented actress AND is gorgeous! Seriously, Gwyneth, I hope I grow up to be like you.
I haven't seen The Help yet but I reaaaally want to! I still thought Octavia looked magnificent in this dress, the color is perfect and the beading/embroidery is quite flattering.
Rooney Mara's dress may have been my favorite. It works with her overall complexion and she's so thin, she can virtually wear anything (lucky bitch). She didn't have the same charisma while interviewing as others (she reminded me a little of Kristen Stewart which is frightening) but she's so talented that it doesn't really matter.
My dad made me dinner while I was watching the show.
White beans with spicy tomato sauce and spinach and broccoli and toasted pine nuts. Soooo good!
It still hasn't started raining and I will be really mad if it starts to pour when we go to Costco.
Hope everyone enjoyed the Oscars and the outfits as much as I did!

You fit me better than my favorite sweater

Happy Post Valentines Day! I hope it was a lovely chocolate filled day for all!
Last Saturday, my sister and I went to Free People for their V-day activities of card making and cookies. Although we wanted to buy at least 4 things, we ended up with only a card for our mom. I personalized it with puffy hearts and glitter and I think it turned out quite nice. Work was really busy but I had time to hear from one of the bakers that Whitney Houston was dead, which I honestly didn't believe at first.
I went to yoga on Sunday by myself and Honey Badger blasted Journey so we could sing along to it. It was brisk but really beautiful out, sunny and blue skies with a little breeze.
I ended up watching the 2nd round of the Grammy's at 9. Well, actually I just watched Adele and a little bit of Paul McCartney. Nicki Minaj was terrible so thank god I didn't have to see it, I only heard some before moving out of range.
On Monday, it was forecasted to rain but surprise, surprise, didn't. It was cloudy and windy and cold, though. I went to a paper store and Target with my mom. We bought more than we needed to at Target (no surprise there either), but all I got was a copy of Elle with Blake Lively on the cover.
She's so beautiful, it's ridiculous.
On Tuesday, I had to pretend to be an 11 year old at a bus stop for an improv exercise. Not as nerve wracking or embarrassing once you get up there, it turns out. Or maybe it's just me. Apparently I did a really good job referencing J.Beibs and iCarly (never seen it before so I have no idea why I talked about her). After school, I got V-Day coffee with Sasha and Kara at Starbucks. I was a little sad that they didn't have any more heart cups but oh well. Kara gave me a lil sticker from her babysitting collection and it matched perfectly to my nails.
When I got home, I saw the dining room table all set up for the holiday as well, with flowers and presents!
I got french bulldog pajamas, Union Jack and panda socks, a hair clip, and a little box of Sees Candy!
In the spirit of the joyous holiday, my dad baked some vegan brownies when he got home and I have to say, they were splendid.
On Wednesday, it rained really hard when I got in my car to go to school but stopped by the time I got there.
The clouds looked a bit scary despite it being sunny. Class was a little boring again but I came home and had some mac and cheese made healthy with olive oil and soy milk (I was skeptical of the soy, I thought we had normal nonfat milk but was wrong; it actually tasted no different than the regular version). My sister and I impulsively decided to go to yoga at 8:45 pm and since it was after 8, free parking! It wasn't Honey Badger but it was a calmer lady who still made us sweat.
On Thursday I had to play air guitar in front of my class, to J. Beibs, of course. He will probably turn out to be a running joke in our class this semester. In my night class, we watched some versions of Rom + Jul circa the '60s and the Leo DiCaprio version.
Who is this guy and what happened to him!? I know this is 1968 but he's still hot. It was cheesy but the people were beautiful, so how much can you complain?
The level of acting was better with this version and of course, they're both gorgeous, so that doesn't hurt.
Yesterday I lounged and read all day until 5 when Sasha picked me, Audrey, and Kara up to go to Anna's art show at USC. Unfortunately, 3-8 (roughly) is the time of traffic in LA, so we sat for 2 hours in the car just to get somewhere that usually only takes 20 min. We made it there late after getting lost and driving around scary parts of East LA but saw the art and her family! We also saw people getting out of an NAACP awards show (our guesses were Obama's here, Whitney's memorial service or BET awards).
This sign made me laugh because I pictured the door being surprised. We endured more traffic down Vermont, passed through a DUI checkpoint and were 2 cars behind an accident before finally making it back to the Valley. Audrey used her Connecticut fake to buy some Jack and we went to Kara's to party with her animals and boyfriend.
Kara and Gunther! Lots of shit got knocked over, including a shot glass, an Adele glass, Sasha's tiki cup off the stairs and Jared kicked over some rutabagas or turnips. Someone called the cops on us (probably because we were just talking too loud) but thankfully they were really nice and didn't even care, they were just like "WE don't think it's late but someone called so we had to come check it out".
The classic Kara Pose with more hanging stuff on the face.
I got home at 2ish, ate dinner and went to sleep. I woke up freezing for some reason and super tired. I'm going to need a fuckload of coffee today at work. I hope I don't pass out in the buttercream.
Also! I've been listening to Lana Del Ray (hence the title) so I leave you with this song:

Adios amigos!

Love is in the air

Yay! My first week of school for spring semester is done with! I'm taking acting, photography, and the advanced version of the screenwriting class that I took last semester, and so far, I think I will keep them all. Right now, I'm most excited for acting because at the end of the class we should have a perfected monologue on hand, which I can hopefully make use of professionally! Actually, all of my classes will leave me with something to use in the future, as I'll have photos for my portfolio and a finished screenplay to register with the WGA.
Back tracking to where I left off last time, I went to Audrey's house for a night in with her and Sasha. After Audrey accidentally dropped her retainer into her neighbor's yard, we watched The Emperor's New Groove, which hello, GREATEST MOVIE EVER. Seriously, one of my favorites.
When I got home, my mom took some rugs out of the dryer and let us sit in them since they were all nice and warm. It's something we've been doing since we were little kids and I still love it.

Last Friday, I took my sister out to Marie Et Cie as a celebration for the end of her finals and last week as a first semester senior. (And I paid because I'm so nice!) The weather was quite pleasant so walking there felt almost like springtime.
I went out to dinner with Sasha, Sami, Jamie, Haley, and some other girls at Loteria in Hollywood, and I swear to God, it felt like the Hills. I'd never been out on a Friday on Hollywood Blvd. and going out with a bunch of girls just felt so cliche. But we had a really good time dancing to Ke$ha and the food was delicious. I also loved the ginormous piñata hanging in the middle of the restaurant. After dinner, everyone went to a hookah bar but Sasha and I went to Starbucks where we saw that they have Valentines Day cups! So adorable! After coffee/tea, we went to Audrey's and watched Clueless, another wonderfully amazing classic.
On Saturday, I woke up to an empty house. My mom went to the zoo for a Goodwill donation, my sister was at her friend's house and my dad left to go to San Francisco. I decided to walk to work because it was a beautiful day and because I didn't want to deal with parking. It was busy for the majority of the day, which was nice since it meant there was much to be done. I helped Steve Carell again, who bought cupcakes and cookies. I also got to see a man get arrested for drunk driving, which isn't as exciting as it sounds because the only reason he was caught is because he got in a slight fender bender. Sending 4 police cars seemed a bit much to me, especially as only 2 cops were doing anything and the rest just stood around. After work, my mom, sister, and I went to Chin Chins and I got summer rolls and wonton soup.
For Superbowl Sunday, my mom and I went to Target to see the Jason Wu collection and I ended up buying a dress! I like it because it reminds me of the retro-ness in the '50s and early '60s. And the collar has pearls, which I'm very into at the moment (embellished collars, that is).
My mom and I went to her cousin's house to watch the game, with some cheesecake jello in tow. I wasn't rooting for anyone in particular, but for the first time, I actually watched most of the game. Maybe it's just me, but I thought it was exciting! My cousins came over also and brought Popeyes and fruit salad. My aunt made chow mein which was sooo good and also inspired a Azn gangsta rap name, Chow Mane. I thought Madonna was alright, she wasn't singing, but she was entertaining. And I laughed so hard at the World Peace thing at the end, so random.
Tuesday was my first day of school, which was so crowded and thankfully I didn't drive.
I sat outside Wednesday morning, in the sun reading Fifth Avenue, 5 AM, which I finished later that day.
I really enjoyed it, it showed the behind the scenes of the Capote story and making of the film. And also about Audrey and the relationships between the producers, director and actors.
My photo class was way boring but the future projects seem promising, so I'm looking forward to that aspect. Also all of my classes have the token 'talker' aka the old-ish guy who feels the need to comment on everything the teacher says.
In my acting class, there's a guy who's half Jamaican, half Filipino and looks sort of like a younger, cuter version of Usher! Hopefully I'll make some friends in my classes since I should probably socialize a little bit.
Today I ran errands with my mom and ate a large bowl of miso soup leftover from last night. I will also be putting together some Valentines Day packages for mon amies. Ooh and I started The Help yesterday and am on pg. 176 already! I really like it so far and I want to see the movie once I'm done reading.
This weekend I get to work with Bryce and on Sunday, my aunt from Oregon and my grandma from OC are coming over to visit.
Happy Valentines Day everyone! I don't have a boy in my life but I still love this holiday! I love the pink and red and lace and the hearts and chocolate! Everything's so cute! I have school but afterwards maybe I'll get my mom some flowers or something and watch a girly movie (most likely 27 Dresses or Shakespeare in Love). I'm so excited! Holidays are the best!

Larsony

The title is referring to my extreme hilariosity involving my sister studying for her government final. She didn't know what larceny was and I told her it was when you steal over $400 from a leprechaun and they set you (or the rainbow) on fire. Not everyone saw the funniness of it but you just can't tell some people.
So, my peanut butter cookies were a success, both with my family and with Brad. I mailed them Wednesday and he texted me over the weekend or Monday and said that he ate them all by himself.
Last Friday, I felt sort of sick but went downtown with my mom to go to the sample sales despite my hate for them. She bought a dress and some necklaces and got me a diet root beer as a reward before going home. My sister and I went shopping once she was home from school at Urban, Free People, Timeless, and of course, Starbucks. She bought this elastic pink tube top from Free People that was on sale for only $10!
I wanted everything, as usual. After shopping, we went out to Daichan with my mom's cousin and our family. I must have been starving because I finished my entire vegetarian rice bowl and I usually don't eat that much rice in one sitting.
I went to work on Saturday, not realizing that my boss forgot to put me on the schedule. It was ok, though, I just stayed till 5 instead of 7. Jennifer Love Hewitt and Elizabeth Banks came through, although I didn't help them. But Jennifer Love Hewitt is totally pretty in person.
On Sunday, Anna and I went to yoga, which was really fun because our teacher played rap and also because she let us do soul train. After showering and whatnot we went back to Ventura and I bought some sunglasses at Timeless.
Only $15! They're sort of funky looking which is why I like them.
We made a quick trip to Costco on Monday afternoon to do Sugar Shack shopping and got some samples.
On Tuesday, AJ and Justin picked me up because they said we were going on a secret mission. It turned out to be a trip to the zoo aka our high school. Justin brought back a cooler of snow from Mammoth over the weekend and they wanted to throw snowballs at some of our friends.
After soaking the parking lot, we drove to the Old Zoo to explore the caves and hike. We saw 3 coyotes by the merry go round and played on the playground for a little while. We made sandwiches at AJ's house (according to them, the best sandwiches they've had in a long time, except I just had a plate of avocado and a blood orange because I wasn't that hungry) and then went....golfing!
This was my first time non-miniature golfing, which was intimidating but also a lot of fun. I hit the rubber tee thing most of the time but at least the ball went really straight! I got a couple of good swings/hits/whatever in so I felt satisfied.
Yesterday, Allia and I hd planned to go to yoga in Burbank but changed our minds to go to Pop Physique, a cardio barre-ish class in Hollywood.

It looks like an American Apparel ad but it's actually a workout place! The class only had like 8 people which was nice but was incredibly hard. The teacher had to realign us practically every time we did a new pose and I'm really sore today but hopefully it was worth it. It was also $20 so I won't be going there too often...
After working out, we went to Cafe Gratitude and I got miso soup and saw Patricia Arquette (I think). It felt like my body had turned to jelly but we managed to walk back to the car and home without dying.
Today, I got my new Teen Vogue with Kendall and Kylie Jenner on it (question: Am I the only person who has barely any interest in them?). My mom and I are going to go to Whole Foods for coconut because she is going to make me granola and I will be getting dinner with Sasha and Audrey later tonight!
I can't believe I finally start school on Tuesday! It's about time haha
